Who we are

The name

A chasqui was a relay runner of the Inca road network — one of a chain of runners who carried messages along the roads, each handing on to the next. That is the job here too: carry what is good about Peru to people who are far from it, and pass it on.

Why we do this

Jorge is Peruvian and lives in New York. Distance from Peru, he found, does not weaken the connection to it; it sharpens the urge to share the country with everyone you meet. He believes everyone should set foot in Peru once — its landscapes, its history and its people change you — and that you do not have to board a flight to meet its culture, because Peruvians are everywhere, with the same warmth and the same open table wherever they live.

Machu Picchu, where the Inca Trail ends, was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. The food, the places and the heritage around it are what these sites set out to share, one part at a time.
